Hi, I’m Mona Lee Ray — author, illustrator, and multi-medium artist raising three amazing kids while building worlds on paper and canvas. I wrote Norah Wolfe Has Gone Insane as a love letter to the parts of me that needed closure, understanding, and a safe place to feel it all. After losing my high school best friend—the one who made the darkest rooms feel like comedy shows—I struggled to make sense of how someone so radiant could be hurting so deeply. Then, when my papa’s Alzheimer’s caused him to forget my dad, our family unraveled in ways we weren’t prepared for. Watching my father spiral into a spiritual psychosis without resources was one of the hardest chapters of my life. But instead of letting those experiences consume me, I transmuted them into a fictional story—one that’s heartfelt, quirky, and healing. Now, I help others do the same: take the hardest parts of their story and turn them into something meaningful, artful, and maybe even magical.
